What it can look like

It isn't always one moment.

Constant vigilance

Scanning rooms, reading faces and bracing for what might happen next, even when you're tired of it.

Microaggressions that add up

Comments and slights that seem small to others but land heavy, again and again.

A specific event

Harassment, violence, profiling or an encounter with police or another system that still replays.

Being doubted

Being told you misread it, overreacted or should let it go, until you start questioning yourself.

Exhaustion in the body

Tension, sleep trouble, headaches or a fatigue that rest alone doesn't seem to touch.

Grief from the news

Watching violence against people who look like you and carrying it into work the next morning.

How we work on it

Your nervous system learned to protect you. We start there.

Racial trauma lives in the body as much as in memory. EMDR and Brainspotting help process specific experiences and the stress stored around them, and somatic approaches help your body find steadier ground.

Internal Family Systems helps us understand the parts of you that stay on guard, swallow anger or keep the peace, with respect for why they formed. We move at a pace that feels safe, and you decide what we focus on.

At every intersection

Racism rarely arrives alone.

It often travels with sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism or anti-immigrant bias. Being Black and queer, or BIPOC and neurodivergent, shapes what you've faced and what healing needs to hold. We make room for all of it.

Questions people ask

Is what I went through serious enough for therapy?

If it's affecting your sleep, your work, your relationships or your sense of safety, it matters. You don't need to prove it to anyone here.

Will I have to relive everything in detail?

No. Approaches like EMDR and Brainspotting don't require retelling every detail, and we build grounding and safety before going anywhere difficult.

Is there help with cost?

Yes. I accept Arizona insurance through Headway and Alma, CHAMPVA in all six states, and reduced-fee care through Open Path Collective. I'm also a Loveland Foundation provider, which funds therapy for Black women and girls.
