Autism
Neuroaffirming therapy for autistic adults, whether you've known for years, just found out or are still putting the pieces together. We work with your sensory world, your communication style and your energy, not around them.
What it can look like
Scripting conversations, mirroring others and suppressing stims until you're not sure where the act ends and you begin.
A deep exhaustion where skills that used to come easily suddenly cost far more, or aren't there at all.
Lights, sounds, textures and crowds that drain your battery faster than anyone around you seems to notice.
Caring about people and still needing long recovery time after being around them.
Being direct and getting read as rude, or missing the unspoken rules everyone else seems to follow.
Looking back at your childhood, relationships and career through a new lens, with relief and grief side by side.
How we work on it
The goal isn't to make you seem less autistic. It's to help you understand your own needs, protect your energy and build a life that fits. We map your sensory profile, notice where masking is costing the most and practice saying what you need, at work, at home and in relationships.
Sessions adapt to you. We can be direct and literal, use written or visual tools, take breaks and skip the small talk. Internal Family Systems helps with the parts of you that learned to mask for safety, and EMDR or Brainspotting can help with the experiences that taught them to.
At every intersection
For autistic Black and BIPOC folks, masking can overlap with code-switching and the pressure to stay safe in rooms that already watch you closely. Many autistic people are also queer, trans or gender-expansive. Here, every layer gets to be seen, and none of them have to be hidden to make space for the others.
No. We focus on what you want: less burnout, clearer boundaries, better rest or stronger relationships. Changing who you are isn't on the list.
Tell me. We can adjust lighting, pace, structure and how we start and end sessions so they feel more manageable.
Yes. I accept Arizona insurance through Headway and Alma, CHAMPVA in all six states, and reduced-fee care through Open Path Collective.
